MEYER MAGIC
"The goal is to win—it's always the goal," Meyer said.
Behind two seconds in the 5000 meters at the 2023 SBC Indoor Championships, Meyer dug deep, using every breath and ounce of fight, to catch JMU's Miranda Stanhope to earn gold and run a school record(16:38.50). She followed it a day later by running a meet-record 4:46.88 to claim gold in the mile.
TAB SLAUGHTER
"Don't focus on the destination, focus on the journey – focus on your path and what you're doing today to improve yourself, on and off the field. Live life with no regrets because life goes by fast. Love deeply, work hard and take risks. Treat people the right way, set your mind on what you want to accomplish and you'll get what your heart desires, but you'll never do it alone. It's all about others.”
ERIKA CHRISTIAN
Christian ranks fourth all-time at A-State in the indoor 400-meter dash (55:52), eighth all-time in the outdoor 400-meter dash, and has a record of 63 top-10 finishes in her career. Christian played a pivotal role in helping A-State Track & Field to its first Sun Belt Conference outdoor Championship since 2001, in 2015. In the same year (2015), she earned All-SBC honors in the league's indoor championships with a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash (55.52) and a third-place finish in the 4x400 meter relay (3:49.40).
JIM CALLOWAY
"I think sports prepare you, I think If you're a student-athlete, you need to make sure you take care of the student part, and if you take care of the student part, then you'll be prepared no matter what. The percentage of ballplayers in just about any sport who go on and make it to the top is very small, and it's a tough road, but if you take care of the student part, and the phone doesn't ring, then you'll certainly have something to fall back on.”
RILEY EBENROTH
"Yes, you can strive to play at the highest level but you also have to make sure that your schooling doesn't suffer because you always need something to fall back on. You never know if something is going to work out or if it's going to be the path that you're going to take.”
